چکیده
Abstract Background The angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2)/angiotensin 1–7 (Ang-(1–7)) axis has been shown to protect against the age-associated decline in skeletal muscle function. Here, we investigated protective effects of ACE2 mitigating function and identify potential underlying molecular mechanisms. Methods We measured expression levels Ang-(1–7) C57BL/6J mice different ages correlated these with measures also myocyte enhancer factor A (MEF2A) knockout (ACE2KO) its relationship then treated aged ACE2KO for four weeks characterized MEF2A before after treatment. assessed impact on growth differentiation C2C12 cells vitro changes glucose transporter type 4 (Glut4). Results Aged showed reduced comparison young middle-aged mice. In mice, protein were significantly lower than age-matched wild-type (WT) After one month treatment, improved, while was similar that untreated group. cells, promote along upregulated Glut4. Conclusions ACE2/ a administration exogenous can delay age-related muscle.

Oxidative system in aged skeletal muscle.
Aging is an inevitable biological process that is characterized by a general decline in the physiological and biochemical functions of the major systems. In the case of the neuromuscular system, reductions in strength and mobility cause a deterioration in motor performance, impaired mobility and disability. At the cellular level, aging is caused by a progressive decline in mitochondrial functio...
متن کاملColchicine protects rat skeletal muscle from ischemia/reperfusion injury by suppressing oxidative stress and inflammation
Objective(s): Neutrophils play an important role in ischemia/reperfusion (IR) induced skeletal muscle injury. Microtubules are required for neutrophil activation in response to various stimuli. This study aimed to investigate the effects of colchicine, a microtubule-disrupting agent, on skeletal muscle IR injury in a rat hindlimb ischemia model. Materials and Methods: Twenty-one Sprague-Dawley ...
متن کاملUrsolic acid induces myoglobin expression and skeletal muscle remodeling in mice
Introduction: Ursolic Acid (UA) is a lipophilic triterpenoid compound, found in large amounts in apple peel. Anabolic effects of UA on the skeletal muscle and the role of this tissue as a key regulator of systematic aging aroused this question in mind whether UA might amend skeletal muscle performances such as myoglobin expression and also whether it switches skeletal muscle fibers from glyc...
متن کاملPhosphoproteomic analysis of aged skeletal muscle.
One of the most important post-translational modifications is represented by phosphorylation on tyrosine, threonine and serine residues. Since abnormal phosphorylation is associated with various pathologies, it was of interest to perform a phosphoproteomic profiling of age-related skeletal muscle degeneration. We used the fluorescent phospho-specific Pro-Q Diamond dye to determine whether chang...
متن کاملAdministration of melatonin protects against acetylsalicylic acid-induced impairment of male reproductive function in mice
Objective(s): Melatonin, an important hormone secreted by the epiphysis, is a powerful anti-oxidant with a high potential to neutralize medical toxins. The goal of this study was to demonstrate the beneficial effect of melatonin on epididymal sperm and reproductive parameters in mice treated with acetylsalicylic acid (ASA). Materials and Methods: Male adult mice were divided into four treatment...
